door-to-door diapers 1-2-3

Cloth diapering is so convenient, it's practically an indulgence.
Each week, you put a bag of dirties outside your door and we replace it with a fresh stack of clean, soft, 100% cotton diapers. That's all. No need for frantic trips to the grocery store, dumping poop, diaper genies, or ever-expensive trash stickers ($2 a week adds up). All at the same price you'd pay for disposables. It works like this:

1. once you sign up:

We supply you with a predetermined number (your "order") of fresh, clean 100% cotton diapers. We recommend starting with 80 diapers and 7 covers for newborns and a "starter package" which includes a hamper, snappi clips, bottom salve, and is yours to keep.

You are buying the service, not the diapers. You may buy or rent covers from us. We clean the diapers. You clean the covers.

If you are expecting, sign up now or at least 3 weeks before your due date, so we can have your pre-birth delivery to you before the babies arrive. Call or e-mail us when you are ready to start service.

Your first set of diapers will arrive about 2 weeks before your due date, and can remain with you free of charge for up to four weeks. If you have not called to begin service by this date, you will be charged $10 per week for unused inventory until regular service begins.

2. then, on delivery day:

Set out your soiled diapers beside your front door by 7 am.

Diapers go directly in the plastic bag proided by The Stork. Count the number of clean diapers you have left over and write the number on a "clean-count' sticker. Affix the clean-count sticker to your bag next to your name label. If you forget to give us your clean count, the driver will put a tag on your bag reminding you to call or email us by midnight that night. If we do not have a clean count for you, we will give you 75% of your full count in the next week's delivery.

We will pick-up and drop-off by 5 pm.

By providing us with your clean count, you’ll receive only the amount of soiled diapers you set out the previous week, which should keep your home supply steady.

We supply bags and deodorant disks free of charge.

3. payment:

You are billed for the amount of diapers you ordered one month in advance. If you are consistently using less than you order, call us to reduce your order.

You’ll receive a bill every 4 weeks with your clean diapers. Payment is due the week after you receive your bill. Put your check in the envelope provided and tape it to the outside of your bag of soiled diapers, or drop it in the mail to us.

There will be a one-time $25 set up fee for any customers who sign up for full or economy service. Delivery may begin anytime after the set-up fee and 4-week pre-payments have been processed.

Be aware that there is a $25 charge for bounced checks.

live out of town?

If you live outside of our delivery area, you can still have diaper service. You can either:

Use our drop box located in the Fry's Spring area of Charlottesville. Please call or email for further instructions.

(We currently do not offer drop box service in either of the Richmond or Valley service areas.)

Or, pay a delivery surcharge of $4 for every extra 15 minutes of round trip time off our usual route (we reserve the right to limit delivery to a "reasonable" round-trip route).

going out of town?

Call us by Friday 5pm, before delivery day, for Charlottesville & Tuesday Richmond customers. Thursday Richmond & Valley customers, please give us your changes by Tuesday at 5 PM. Tell us when you want service to stop and then resume or if you simply want to lower your count for that week. We don't charge for vacation weeks, and offer 6 free pick-up only weeks.

whoops!

If you forget to set out soiled diapers, you will still get clean diapers. Just hang onto your bag of soiled diapers until next week (after giving it a good dose of baking soda – and keep it in a cool place). They’ll be inspected for mildew damage and you’ll be charged for any damaged diapers at $1.50 per diaper.

stopping service:

Call us by Friday before delivery day. Set out all diapers, clean and soiled. A fee of $1.50 per diaper will be charged for each diaper not returned. Minimum service is only 4 weeks. If you discontinue within 4 weeks, there is no refund for service, and the balance may not be used towards the purchase of products. You may stop service with no penalty at any time after 4 weeks.
